Feb 11th 2010
Who would have thought that in 2010 hearts, flowers and tigers would go hand in hand. February 14th marks the date in which Valentine’s Day and the Year of the Tiger fall on the same day.
They couldn’t be any different – Valentine’s Day symbolizes love…romance…heart shaped candy. The Year of the Tiger roars in with drama, intensity and change.
Change is good. Change makes the world go around. Intensity in our professional and personal life pushes us to strive to do the best that we can. Drama…well…..we can do without the drama.
Valentine’s Day is such a huge contrast: we show our Valentine we care by buying candy, flowers, dinner. That’s wonderful in our private lives, and very much appreciated. What can we do to make our clients feel like our Valentine year ‘round?
Going above and beyond what is expected always makes a client feel special and appreciated. There is always that one person (or two) who really pull out all the stops. Imagine how you would feel if you were on the receiving end of that service! You would swoon over that “Valentine”.
Show your clients white glove service. What is white glove service? Think about when you are at your favorite restaurant. The waitstaff fills your glass before you can ask for something to drink, or folds your napkin when you leave from the table, or is right there to ask you if there is anything else they can do for you. Why is this appreciated? The person performing the service is anticipating your needs. Are you anticipating and providing white glove service to your “Valentine”?
What about your staff? Something we do in our firm is place a single red rose in a vase on the desks of the female staffers. They love it, and it’s so nice to be thought of and appreciated.
Bring it on Tiger! Happy hearts day.
