If you're heading to college this fall, or if you are preparing to send your children to college, you probably have a checklist: laptop, iPod, iPhone, chargers, clothes, dorm/apartment supplies, bathroom supplies, books for classes (this is probably the right order too), and so on. The elephant on the list, however, is a fat tuition check.
As the economy continues to wane, college costs are still no bargain. Recent survey results show that the number of people who are worried about being able to pay for college is on the rise. Paying for college can be a creative process, and borrowing for college can haunt you for decades after school is but a dim memory. And yet, the necessity for a college degree seems to permeate our society, and so we continue to repeat this process every year.
