Becoming Slightly Famous

I recently read the book "Get Slightly Famous" by Steven Van Yoder. In it he makes the important point that, while you may never develop a brand name that is recognized world-wide,  with hard work and dedication you can become well known and highly regarded within your own, more narrowly defined target segment.  Van Yoder emphasizes that visibility is the corner stone of building anyone's famous stature.  In fact, he suggests the following formula be a guide for those who wants to be recognized as a thought leader in their market:

Visibility + Credibility + Word of Mouth = Reputation

In other words, the more visible you are, and the greater value you add, the more others will talk about you and help spread the word about your expertise, which will eventually enhance your reputation. This formula works for any industry, but most especially within our world of public accounting.
