Accounting and business majors interacted with firm leaders and E&Y personnel, who were eager to present the challenges and exciting potential of an accounting career at E&Y.

2011 Accounting Graduates Earning Average Salaries of $50,000

Accounting grads in 2011, earned starting salaries that exceeded those in nearly every other field except engineering and computer science. Overall, the average salary was $41,701, but accounting majors earned an average of $50,500, which is up 3.7 percent from 2010, according to the 2012 NACE survey.

Their efforts were part of the LCPA's scholastic literacy book program, a statewide collaboration between the LCPA, Scholastic, and Gilsbar, Inc.

North Carolina State University Students Win AICPA National Accounting Competition

On December 17, the AICPA named seventeen students from North Carolina State University winners of the AICPA National Accounting Competition. The case competition focused on a fictional Texas company looking to expand its business into the Nigerian oil fields. The team received a $10,000 award.

College of William & Mary Winner of Deloitte Foundation's FanTAXtic Tax Case Study Competition

The College of William & Mary was the winner of the tax case study competition – FanTAXtic – sponsored by the Deloitte Foundation. Nine teams participated. Each student on the winning team received a $2,000 scholarship, while the winning school pocketed an institutional award of $10,000.
