Brett Owens is the CEO and cofounder of Chrometa, a software company dedicated to automatically capturing and making sense of your time for you, so that you can accurately and easily account for your billable and project time. The inspiration for Chrometa came from a good friend of Brett's, an attorney at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer and Feld LLP, who hated reconciling his time manually, and wanted a completely effortless piece of software that would do all of the heavy lifting for him by automatically recording how he spent time on his PC and other computing devices.
Chrometa was initially adopted by attorneys, whose gains included discovering previously undocumented billable time, saving time on billing reconciliation, and improving personal productivity. Chrometa's time capture software has since been increasingly used by CPAs, and the product has already been featured in CPA Technology Advisor, The Economist, The Chicago Tribune, and a host of other leading online and print publications.
Brett also is chief editor and founder of popular investing blogs ContraryInvesting.com and CommodityBullMarket.com, as well as a regular contributor to two leading financial media sites, Seeking Alpha and Minyanville.
He has a Bachelors Degree in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University.
