When I first saw tweets about the tanning tax I thought that it was one of those things, started in a bar by a few drunks that, through the power of the internet had become fact. But it is a fact, isn’t it?
A tanning tax. Some of the tweets are talking about it being a racist tax, and from the first black American President. This started me thinking, will the next white President bring in a Motown Tax, or the first female president a tax on facial hair growth, or the next male President a tax on tampons. The list goes on.......
I think that it is more likely that this is one of these things that governments do, something that is not properly thought out and leads to unintended consequences.
Maybe VAT isn’t so bad, at least it is racially, and sex neutral.
