One Billion...and Counting

Back to blog homepage for: Rob Nance
When the Internal Revenue Service recently announced that its e-file service had reached the landmark of surpassing one billion individual tax returns processed, I immediately thought of the wise words of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. Sure, most of us gripe about the taxes we have to pay, but Holmes' words carry weight.

"Taxes are what we pay for civilized society."

We all live in a great country. God Bless America.

You should also know that "Taxes is the price we pay for Thriving too fast"

I save my money for a rainy day----Why does it always rain on April 15th ????

Rob, assuming you weren't being tongue-in-cheek sarcastic, thanks for saying this! Paying taxes is part of loving our country and being a good citizen, regardless of individual opinions on how the funds are spent at any given time or by any given administration. When people complain about taxes I wonder why they don't want to support the community & civilization that is our great USA and from which we all have benefitted. Even the hardest working capitalist could not achieve the same success in another country. All of us should be thankful and want to give back to the USA that made our successes possible. That means following current tax laws whether we like them or not. And if not, vote for change - don't complain or cheat on tax returns.
