I recently enjoyed attending the annual meeting of The New Horizon Group of CPA firm management consultants in Phoenix, Arizona. The group meets annually and is comprised of 18 of some of the world's best-known consultants to the accounting profession. It is truly an honor to be part of such a group.
The topic of various partner "agreements" came up, as it often does. All of us agreed, many firms should take time this summer and revisit their agreements.
The larger firms have been more attentive to this topic (probably for the simple fact that they have SO many partners). They have kept pace with the changing times in which we live. However, mid- to small firms may not have updated their agreements in over 20 years!
We are now seeing the non-solicitation agreements including potential clients, employees of the firm and even referral sources.
You might want to add review and revision of your agreements to your 2010 action plan.
