Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day
Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is more than a career day. Its’ more than just having our own children at work with us. It’s about all our children.....nieces, nephews, neighbors, friends etc. It helps boys and girls see what their parent or mentor does during the work day, and how important it is. It also shows them the value of their education, and the possibilities of a balanced work and home life. As these Gen Y’s come up through the work force, they want to know that they can have that balance, and it’s never too early to educate them.
We had a group come in and had two partners and our financial resources administrator show them the value of money, how to save, what a stock is and what it means, how to start a thriving lemonade stand business, etc. It was nice to see how the kids responded in that they had passbook savings and even a CD……and knew that the CD we were referring to didn’t have anything to do with music!!
Understanding the value of a dollar now will aid them in their road ahead to being able to budget and manage their financial future.
