Keeping Up With the Joneses

Funny story - over the weekend, as my daughter is showing us places for her sweet 16 (which by the way is still a year away but who's counting), we kiddingly ask her if she is trying to keep up with the Joneses.  Her reply:  "I don't know who they are.  We don't know any Joneses do we"?  We had a great laugh with that one!

Who are these Joneses?  In our world, they are your fellow accounting firms.  Are you keeping up with them in terms of providing superior service to your clients?  Are you making face time with your clients?

If you answer no to either of these questions, you are not keeping up with the Joneses.  I believe clients like to be contacted and spoken to more than just once a year during tax season.  Anyone can call once a year.  What about the rest of the year?  If you are not communicating with your clients, and seeing them on a regular basis, there is someone else who would be more than happy to help you out...and take your clients off your hands.

Face time is very important, now more than ever.  Clients feel that connection and relationship when they see their trusted advisor more than once a year for the obligatory tax form prep.

Get out there and keep up with those Joneses!
