Kind of Getting the Hang of Twitter
First off, the title of this entry sounds right in my head, but sure looks weird once typed out.
Over the last month, I've been making a consious effort to use Twitter more. I don't know that I'll ever generate business from it, but I'm sure making a lot of interesting connections.
One thing I've noticed is a surge in people following my tweets. A month ago I was at maybe 350, and as I write this I'm at 422 (thought it was 423 earlier today). In the grand scheme of things 422 sure isn't a lot, but that's a 20% increase in a month.
So what am I doing? Pretty much the following:
- Trying to retweet things from people I follow that relate to accounting, social media, or things I find interesting.
- Tweet articles like the above.
- Reply back to people I follow.
- Try to keep up on the hashtag #backchannel which is a Detroit based conversation group. Met a couple of interesting people from there.
I can't figure out yet how most of these people are finding me. I'm also not sure if this is a giant time waster or not. I figure connections with people are good.
Are you tweeting? My twitter ID is joelungar. Mention me in a tweet and I'll follow you back.
