Obama, House and Senate Leaders Work To Avert U.S. Debt Crisis; David Walker Unveils Proposals to "Restore Fiscal Sanity"
As reported by Manu Raju in Politico.com earlier today, in Gang of Six Breakthrough: Behind the Scenes, a bipartisan group of six senators (the 'Gang of Six') has been trying to put a deal together to solve the U.S. debt crisis. Sam Youngman of TheHill.com, citing White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, reported earlier today that Obama, House and Senate Leaders were set to meet this afternoon to try to firm up a bipartisan solution on the debt talks.
In related news, former Comptroller General David Walker, who now heads up the the Comeback America Initiative (CAI), presented his solution to resolving the budget deficit and related issues, in the form of a report entitled "Restoring Fiscal Sanity."
