TARP Reform Bill Introduced, Hearings Slated, As COP, GAO Issue Reports
On Jan. 9, House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-MA) introduced H.R. 384, the TARP Reform and Accountability Act, to amend the Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP) established under the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (EESA). A related hearing will be convened by the commitee on Jan. 13.
Separately, TARP's Congressional Oversight Panel (COP) issued the second in a series of reports last week (See COP's Second Report) and will convene a hearing later this week on the subject of regulatory reform, in advance of a report on that topic which COP is slated to issue later this month.
