Obama Announces Schapiro As His Pick For SEC Chair

At a press conference on Dec. 18, 2008, President Elect Barack Obama named Mary L. Schapiro, currently Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), as his pick for chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Her appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
Schapiro's prior experience includes serving as an SEC commissioner, as well as serving as chair of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Links to further info can be found below.
