Office etiquette. What can you say about office etiquette, or lack thereof. Well…..plenty. It’s quite interesting that this subject always seems to be a topic of conversation. Why not visit it again………

You walk into a co-worker’s office, and see he/she is speaking to someone…
If you see the person you need to speak to is in with someone else, please don’t stand there and wait until they are done. Please don’t walk in and start talking. Be courteous. Stand at the door and ask the person to come by or call you when they are done.

Ahhh the old question: where has common sense gone? Is it really gone?

In this day and age of modern technology, we are able to communicate and stay in touch with each other 24/7, with a plethora of ways in which to do so: Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, BlackBerries, etc.

With all the new channels of communication, the basic human need for common sense and courtesy has not been outdated.

Face time with people is very important as this is how relationships are formed. There is nothing better than being able to meet with a client or vendor and have that one on one time.

Hopefully no one has had to contend with layoffs – whether it be on the giving or receiving end.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) changed the health benefit provisions of COBRA. The financial stimulus law signed by President Obama on February 17, 2009 includes significant changes to the COBRA rules.

COBRA is a federal law giving employees and dependents the right to continue health insurance coverage under certain circumstances.

It’s hard to believe May is already upon us. Where has the time gone? Last month’s April showers are bringing more than May flowers. May brings us college students who are finishing up the last of their finals and looking to embark into the world of internships.

Internships are a win-win for both the student and the firm. For the firm, it establishes early contact and extended exposure to students. Internships often occur in the junior/senior years, although sometimes in earlier years.

Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is more than a career day. Its’ more than just having our own children at work with us. It’s about all our children.....nieces, nephews, neighbors, friends etc. It helps boys and girls see what their parent or mentor does during the work day, and how important it is.
