CGMA or CMA?

Back to blog homepage for: Gail Perry - Voice of the Editor
Amidst a certain amount of controversy, the AICPA and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants have launched a new designation for global management accountants, the CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant). The designation is available to members of both organizations. The credential is to be issued based on experience rather than specific education and an examination. Jeffrey Thomson, Institute of Management Accountants president, recently told AccountingWEB, "We have some serious questions about the designation," and he questioned the length of the grandfathering period and the fact that AICPA members qualify without passing a test.

Mr. Thomson has an honest concern. How does someone accept a professional designation without passing an management accounting examination as proof of having some competence and then hold himself out as having proficiency as a management accountant of any sort? It only undermines the credibility of the management accounting profession and make us look askance at anyone who would accept such a designation.

According to my exploration, thousands of people on our planet receive the mortgage loans at well known creditors. Thus, there is a good chance to receive a sba loan in every country.
