Welcome to Pajama Work

“Oh, that’s pajama work.”

I have to thank my friend and colleague Bryce Forney, for this phrase. It sums how many QuickBooks consultants are working these days.

Well, maybe not many, but many that I know, like Dawn Brolin, Michelle Long and MB Raimondi. And it represents how I think we could (should?) all be working. For those of you that don’t know me, I’m a huge fan of working remotely – whether it’s using QuickBooks Online, hosting service for my Pro/Premier/Enterprise clients or any of the great mobile apps available for my iphone or ipad.

Much of what we do can be described as Pajama Work – since we’re not venturing out to meet with clients, we are able to stay in our pajamas and do what we do, whether it’s bookkeeping, consulting, setup, training – because we work remotely a majority of the time.

I understand the need to actually meet with clients – and do that when necessary. Heck, I even have TWO clients that I still have regular, weekly appointments with every other week!

The title of my blog “Pajama Work: QuickBooks, Technology and the Cloud” pretty much rolls all of my work passion into one place. I love QuickBooks – both desktop and online – it’s what I do all day, every day. And the best part? No two days are ever the same! I’m addicted to technology and gadget (it’s killing me that I’m not eligible for my iphone 5 upgrade until March 2013), and I’m a big advocate of using online solutions to work with my clients.

So, welcome to my new blog. I plan on sharing a variety of things with you – sometimes a QuickBooks how-to or best practice, a cool app that I find for my ipad or iphone and stories about how I was able to use a cloud solution to help a client.

Keep in mind that most of the time, I’ll be writing in my jammies. Or, what I refer to as my “work clothes”.
