Chicago CPAs Reach Out to Community
CPA firm Blackman Kallick Plante Moran is raising the visibility of nonprofits in the Chicago area by hosting a competition for a $25,000 contribution. To celebrate its recent merger and to give back to the community, the firm has encouraged Chicagoland charities to introduce themselves and describe how they will use the money if they win the competition. The 20 organizations receiving the most votes will continue to a second round of voting, and then the top 10 charities will continue to a final round. Anyone can vote, and you can vote as often as you want.
The accounting firm is not only raising the visibility of nonprofits – it is raising its own visibility in a very positive way. This is a creative way to connect with the community on multiple levels. Think about how you can do something similar in your town. The contribution doesn't have to be $25,000. It doesn't even have to be money. Maybe your local charities could compete for your time to help with their projects or to provide financial or tax planning assistance to the group that it serves. Make your local newspapers, radios, and television stations know about your plan in addition to using social media to spread the word. Make this summer count in a new way!
