Elliott Davis, LLC, one of the largest accounting, tax and consulting services firms in the Southeast, is pleased to announce Greenville Business Magazine named Director of Corporate Development Jim Bourey among its 50 Most Influential of 2012.
Bourey was selected for his efforts as Chairman of United Way of Greenville. With a final total of more than $16 million raised in its most recent campaign, the United Way set a new record for giving in 2012, surpassing the established goal of $15.8 million. Campaign contributions are used to address food/housing, youth development, and crisis counseling needs as well as to initiatives designed to continually decrease the level of need within the county.
For three years, Bourey has implemented strategic growth initiatives at Elliott Davis. Prior to joining Elliott Davis, he spent more than six years serving Greenville and the Upstate community as city manager.
Elliott Davis is also pleased to announce the addition of George Noonan as tax senior manager in its financial services practice. He will be located in the firm's Charlotte, North Carolina, office.
A certified public accountant with more than sixteen years of experience, Noonan serves financial institutions providing them with a variety of services including tax planning and research, ASC 740 consultation, FIN 48 analysis, tax return preparation, quarterly estimate preparation, forecast, and projections. His experience includes serving multibillion-dollar financial institutions filing complex consolidated and multi state income tax returns. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from Wright State University.
Friedman LLP Partner Audrey Sherrick, CPA, has been distinguished as one of New Jersey's 2013 "Best 50 Women in Business" by NJBIZ.
The Best 50 Women in Business award honors New Jersey's most dynamic women in business. An independent panel of judges selected the winners based on their dedication to business growth, professional and personal accomplishments, community involvement, and advocacy for women.
Sherrick has more than thirty years of experience and has devoted a significant amount of her time to mentoring and training audit professionals, developing audit policy, and writing articles on specialty industry topics of concern to her clients. She is a team member of one of Friedman's leading practice areas, the Not-for-Profit Services Group, which offers tax, audit, and management consulting services to nonprofits of all types, causes, and sizes. She also contributes to the Group's quarterly newsletter The Nonprofit Advisor.
NJBIZ and the program sponsors will honor this year's winners during an awards ceremony on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset, New Jersey. The honorees will also be highlighted in a special supplement to NJBIZ on March 25, 2013.
Grant Thornton LLP continues to expand the National Bank Advisory & Regulatory Services practice with the hiring of regulatory industry veteran Rona Pocker, based in New York.
Most recently, Pocker was with Bank of America Corporation, where she served as a senior vice president and led the design of the enterprise risk drivers program. Previously, Pocker was a managing director at Promontory Financial Group LLC, where she guided executive management and other stakeholders in addressing governance, risk management, and compliance matters, including conversions to financial holding company and large bank status. Prior, she led the North America Capital Markets Audit (Global Corporate & Investment Bank) and Credit Risk Review units at Citigroup. Pocker received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago, a master's degree in accountancy from Baruch College's Zicklin School of Business, and a bachelor's degree from New York University. She is a certified public accountant in New York State and a certified anti-money laundering specialist.
The Southern California full-service accounting and consulting firm of Gumbiner Savett Inc. is pleased to announce the promotion of two of its staff members to manager: Stanislava Niatylka is now a tax manager and Joseph Ventura is an audit manager.
A member of the firm for almost five years, Niatylka works with high-net worth individuals and middle-market companies in the areas of tax planning, compliance, and consulting in various industries, such as real estate, construction, manufacturing, and professional services. She is a graduate of the California State University at Northridge and recently received her Master of Business Taxation (MBT) from there with honors.
Ventura is an audit and accounting specialist who works with clients of various sizes, such as venture- backed startups through established corporations with multiple entities and also specializes on the audits of employee benefit plans. He is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz.
KPMG LLP, the audit, tax and advisory firm, announced it has elevated its sponsorship agreement with Stacy Lewis, LPGA Tour five-time champ, and reigning Rolex Player of the Year. As part of the deepening relationship with KPMG, Lewis' hat will feature the KPMG logo which had previously been positioned on her golf shirt. This relationship is part of KPMG's golf sponsorship platform, which began when the firm launched its global sponsorship agreement with PGA Tour star Phil Mickelson in 2008.
As part of the new agreement with KPMG, Lewis - who is ranked No. 1 among US women golfers and No. 3 in the world - will wear the KPMG logo on her hat on the LPGA Tour, beginning this week at the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open in Melbourne, Australia.
Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain, PC (LBMC), one of the Southeast's largest accounting and business consulting firms, has added Mariya Rybolovleva in its Brentwood (Nashville) office.
Rybolovleva has joined the firm as a staff member with the tax services department. She has experience in individual, partnership, S corp, and C corp tax returns. Originally from Novorossiysk, Russia, she holds a Master of Accounting and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Middle Tennessee State University.
Smart Devine, a full-service accounting, tax, and advisory firm, announced it has hired Rob Drover as a managing director in the Business Advisory Practice. He specializes in enterprise-level application and infrastructure support, high-volume data management, and business process outsourcing (BPO) for a wide range of clients, including Fortune 200 organizations.
