Baker Tilly Virchow Krause (Baker Tilly) has been selected by Joseph A. Smith, Monitor of National Mortgage Settlement, as a secondary professional firm to validate the settlement compliance of one of the five mortgage servicers named in the agreement. Throughout the next three and a half years, Baker Tilly will provide support to the Monitor as he and his team oversee implementation of the settlement involving forty-nine states, the US government, and five of the nation's largest banks.

The shareholders of Elliott Davis, LLC, a tax and consulting services firm in the Southeast, are pleased to announce they have admitted Caroline Van Hook as shareholder, located in the firm’s Greenville, South Carolina, office. A CPA with seventeen years of experience, Van Hook provides tax services to clients in the professional services sector as well as the closely-held business arena. She has been with Elliott Davis since 1999. Van Hook earned a BS in accounting and finance from Converse College and is a graduate of Leadership Greenville.

Charleston-based firm Grigoraci, Paterno & Associates and Huntington firm Hayflich & Steinberg announced consolidation plans last week. The new entity is now known as Hayflich Grigoraci PLLC. The existing offices will stay in the same locations, according to a letter sent to clients by company officials. In the letter, Victor Grigoraci, CEO for Grigoraci, Paterno & Associates, and John Lafear, managing member for Hayflich & Steinberg, assure that all professional staff members will stay on board.
 
"The combined firm will now be able to offer an even deeper concentration of industry experience and highly specialized knowledge in areas such as energy and natural resources, auto dealerships, manufacturing and distribution, hospital and medical, government, construction and evaluations," according to the letter.
 
The current website is still accessible, while a new site will be unveiled in the fall.

Cindy McLoughlin, CPA, has joined J.H. Cohn LLP, an accounting and consulting firm, as a partner in the firm's Long Island office. With more than seventeen years of experience, McLoughlin has extensive expertise in providing audit services to midsize and large companies in the retail and consumer products, hospitality, manufacturing and distribution, technology, and life sciences industries, and she has gained additional specialization in SEC audit requirements for public companies. In 2012, McLoughlin received the Corporate Leader award from Long Island Women's Agenda, was named as one of Long Island Business News' Top 40 under 40, and was named one of Long Island's Top 50 Most Influential Women in Business. She received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from California State University - Northridge.

KPMG LLP, the US audit, tax, and advisory firm, announced that the following professionals have joined the firm. 
 
Marc Frediani has joined the firm as a partner in the Federal Tax practice in Atlanta. Frediani comes to KPMG from Deloitte Tax LLP, where as a partner in its Federal Tax Services practice, he provided health care and real estate clients with a variety of tax services, including tax planning and IPO readiness; mergers, divestitures, and post-integration planning; and international restructuring and transfer pricing assistance. Frediani holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Tax from the Virginia Commonwealth University.
 
Charles Schneider has rejoined the firm as a managing director in the firm's Tax Transformation and Outsourcing (TTO) Services group, which is part of the Federal Tax practice. Based in Stamford, Connecticut, Schneider will focus on helping multinational clients establish efficient intercompany transfer pricing approaches and improve the integrity of their intercompany accounts, leveraging the firm's capabilities around Operational Transfer Pricing services. He has twenty-seven years of experience assisting large multinationals with a range of tax issues. Schneider holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the Ancell School of Business at Western Connecticut State University.
 
Greg Morrow has joined as a partner in the firm's Federal Tax practice. Based in the Stamford, Connecticut, office, he will focus on serving the firm's technology clients. Morrow has a deep understanding of the technology and media industries and strong tax technical skills in such areas as R&D credits, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, state and local tax issues, and merger and acquisition tax. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh.

LBMC Managed Security Services, LLC, has added Joe Anderson as an engineer in the department. LBMC Managed Security Services, LLC, is part of the LBMC Family of Companies, which includes Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain, PC (LBMC). Anderson previously worked at Peak 10 as a data center support tech. He is a graduate of ITT Technical Institute with a bachelor's degree in information system security. In his new role, he will be helping to ensure security of client networks and data. Anderson has previous experience working networks and information security as well as the Multi-OS platform. 
 
Ashley Barton has also joined the LBMC Managed Security Services team in a business development position. His previous experience working with the health care and legal industries as well as Fortune 500 Companies will further enable him to work closely with clients providing solutions to secure and safeguard their technology infrastructure. Barton previously worked for Vital Records Control in a vice president position. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri in St. Louis.
