The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) recently announced its scholarship applications for the 2013-2014 academic year are now open.
"The AICPA is committed to ensuring that qualified students can get the education they need to take advantage of the possibilities a career as a CPA offers," said Scott Moore, Director-Career Awareness. "I encourage all eligible students to review the opportunities available, both through the AICPA's scholarship program and also those listed on ThisWayToCPA."
The AICPA plans to award more than $350,000 through more than 100 scholarships to the nation's top accounting students. The scholarships are available online until April 1, 2013, for undergraduate and graduate level accounting students.
The available scholarships include:
- AICPA/Accountemps Student Scholarship – ten scholarships awarded to undergraduate and graduate students
- AICPA John L. Carey Scholarship – ten scholarships awarded to students with a non-business major pursuing graduate studies in accounting
- AICPA Scholarship for Minority Accounting Students – eighty+ scholarships awarded to minority undergraduate and/or graduate students
"To me, the value of an AICPA scholarship doesn't lie solely in meeting a student's financial needs," said Ronald Dukes, a 2012-2013 Scholarship for Minority Accounting Students recipient and a Master of Accountancy student at Villanova University. "This scholarship has provided me with inspiration and passion to impact a positive change in the accounting profession and to set an example for my peers to follow."
