Dallas-based Travis Wolff & Co. has merged with Burnside & Rishebarger of San Antonio effective October 1.
The bigger firm, called TravisWolff Independent Advisors & Accountants, will have about 155 employees in both locations and an annual revenue of $25 million.
Harold Garr, managing partner of TravisWolff, told the San Antonio Business Journal that the two firms serve similar clients of owner-operated businesses. “Burnside is a great fit because its partners and employees maintain a similar culture. They are totally focused on client service and employee development.”
“We are very excited to team with Ed Rishebarger and his talented group of professionals in San Antonio, and we are confident that our Dallas and San Antonio clients will benefit from our regional presence and the greater depth of services we now offer,” Ken Travis, TravisWolff’s board chairman, said in a statement.
Rishebarger, managing and founding partner of Burnside & Rishebarger, told the Dallas Morning News that he is nearing retirement. “Over the next couple of years, I probably will be winding down. I’ll stay with the firm in another capacity.”
Travis explained that further expansion in Texas is part of TravisWolff’s long-term strategy. Travis Wolff and Burnside & Rishebarger had informally discussed a merger several years ago at an industry association meeting. Serious talks began in February 2009, Garr said.
