There's unrest these days among consultants at PricewaterhouseCoopers, and the timing couldn't be worse. First there was last fall's failed sale of the consultancy arm of PwC to Hewlett-Packard. Then there was the slashing of 400 of the firm's consultants earlier this year. Recent talks have centered around another attempt, by the summer of 2001, to separate the consulting arm from the rest of the company.
Meanwhile, the British press is reporting that some of those consultants who remain with the firm have circulated a letter within the firm which talks of "suppressed anger" among the ranks. The letter criticizes the firm's management style.
A meeting of members of the consultancy group has been set for this week and Lynton Barker, head of management consultancy practices at PwC, is referring to the meeting as a "call to arms."
