Big Five firm KPMG has moved its U.K. graduate recruitment process completely online.
The website, kpmgcareers.co.uk, is expected to cut administration in half and quadruple the speed of the recruitment process.
KPMG-UK receives 8,000 applications a year for the 650 places on its graduate program. Now, users in Great Britain can complete a screen-based application within an hour, and expect feedback on the progress of the application within 24 hours. Interviews can then be booked online as well.
"We've redesigned the entire graduate application process to take advantage of the speed, accuracy and flexibility of the Internet," explained Keith Dugdale, national director of graduate recruitment at KPMG-UK.
"Rather than simply transferring paperwork onto the screen, we've designed a completely new process that meets the needs of a modern employer and prospective new joiners. It provides sophisticated interaction and accelerates the recruitment process to an unprecedented degree."
A CD-ROM featuring interviews with the firm's staff, background information, and an explanation of the new online application process, is also available.
The website features a link to the recently launched graduate recruitment site of KLegal, KPMG's associated law firm (klegaltrainees.co.uk), which incorporates a similar online applications process. The multi-disciplinary practice is a viable business form in the UK.
