Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, L.L.P. (CB&H), a national public accounting and consulting firm headquartered in the Southeast, has announced that William J. Poad has been named director of indirect taxes within the firm's State and Local Tax (SALT) Group. In this position, Poad will assist clients with multistate operations in navigating the ever-changing sales and use tax regulatory environment. Poad is a specialist in multistate indirect taxation, helping clients with planning, compliance, structuring, and protest proceedings. He is familiar as well with value-added tax (VAT), property valuation, and excise tax issues.
Prior to joining CB&H, Poad served as a director in the SALT practice in two of the big four accounting firms. For more than five years, he was leader of indirect taxes at Alcoa for operations across North America.
Poad earned his BS in accounting from Pennsylvania State University. He is a nationally recognized expert of indirect taxation and speaks frequently on the topic to national tax conferences and symposia.
The CPA and strategic advisory firm of Goldin Peiser & Peiser, LLP (GPP) is pleased to announce the release of its 2012 Dental Office Personnel Salary & Benefits Survey. Earlier this year, GPP invited dental professionals to participate in its annual salary and benefits survey. The survey respondents included a diverse group of practices throughout North Texas.

Gary T. Moran, CPA, has joined J.H. Cohn LLP as a partner in Cohn Consulting Group.
With nearly thirty years of experience in working with CFOs, controllers, treasurers, and finance executives, Moran has extensive expertise in finance strategy and engineering, cost and working capital reduction, performance management and financial reporting, merger integration and carve-out planning and execution, performance improvement, and project/change management.
Prior to joining J.H. Cohn, Moran developed and led a forty-person business consulting practice of an independent global professional services firm. In this role, he was responsible for leading numerous engagements for corporate, private equity, public sector, and restructuring clients.

Arlene Ciroula, AAAPM, COO of KatzAbosch, has recently been awarded the Association-certified Accredited Administrator in Accounting Practice Management (AAAPM) by the Association for Accounting Administration (AAA). This prominent designation recognizes Ciroula's knowledge and professional experience in accounting practice management.
The AAA's voluntary AAAPM certification program joins a growing trend within accounting and other professions to recognize and create value for those individuals who have achieved a high level of competency within the firm administrator community. LBMC has named John A. Litchfield, Jr. as its Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Litchfield, a CPA and previously the leader of the firm's audit practice, has now assumed the new role of COO where he will be responsible for and oversee LBMC's internal accounting, technology, human resources, training, and all administrative functions of the firm's operations. While in his new role, Litchfield will also maintain some of his client relationships. Litchfield is a cum laude graduate of Murray State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business with an area of concentration in accounting.
LBMC, has added Seth Neller and Kyle Hendrickson in its Brentwood (Nashville) office.
Neller has joined the accounting firm in a senior position in the accounting and assurance services department. He brings a broad range of experiences including having worked for a local CPA firm in Plano, Texas, focusing on providing accounting and assurance service to clients in the technology, manufacturing, distribution, and not-for-profit industries as well as working on employee benefit plan audits. Originally from Searcy, Arkansas, he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and economics from Harding University.
Hendrickson has joined the accounting firm as a senior consultant within the healthcare consulting division. Originally from Columbia, Tennessee, he previously worked as an associate with the healthcare team at Avondale Partners. He brings a solid foundation of knowledge of the ever-changing healthcare environment as well as experience in various valuation and financial analyses of healthcare companies.

The LBA Group has announced that Carol Crews, CMPE, has joined the company as Director of Healthcare Consulting Services. Crews will manage each aspect of health care consulting that LBA provides, which includes coding reviews, revenue enhancement and office optimization, financial impact analysis, regulatory issue consulting, strategic management consulting, educational and training services, and office operational assessments.
Prior to joining the LBA team, Crews accumulated over thirty years of health care experience and also earned her Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) certification. Her career focus has been on contract compliance and credentialing, revenue enhancement, practice management systems, billing oversight, regulatory issues, financial impact analysis, and coding reviews. Crews earned her associate's degree in business administration from Florida State College. She is working on her bachelor's degree in business administration and is scheduled for graduation in December 2012.
Moss Adams LLP has selected Chris Schmidt to become its next chairman and CEO and Dick Fohn to become president and COO in a planned transition that supports the firm's focus on continued growth. Selected by the firm's Executive Committee, Schmidt and Fohn will assume their new roles during the first half of 2013.
Schmidt has served as president and COO of Moss Adams since 2004 and was managing partner of the firm's Orange County, California, office from 1997 to 2004. He joined the Orange County office in 1986 as an assurance professional and was admitted to the partnership in 1991. In the chairman and CEO role, he will lead the firm's more than 1,800 personnel serving clients' assurance, tax, and business advisory needs.
Fohn has served as the firm's director of tax since November 2011. Prior to that, he was managing partner of the firm's Bellingham, Washington, office. He was admitted to the partnership in 1992, and his client service practice focused on ownership succession for closely held businesses and estate planning and personal financial planning for high-net worth families and individuals.
The Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) announces a new mobile app for its magazine, the Pennsylvania CPA Journal. The app gives PICPA members access to the Journal in a form that they can read it whenever and wherever they choose. The app is available for the IPad, IPhone, and Android devices. Soon, Kindle Fire will be added to the list.
The new app provides readers with online enhancements including audio and video bonuses, keyword search for points of interest, and options that allow for sharing via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and more. Issues dating back to winter 2010 will also be available to app users.
The Pennsylvania CPA Journal is sent out four times a year to more than 21,000 people. There is also a digital version available on the PICPA website. The PICPA will continue to publish the print version of the magazine. This new app simply gives its readers a new way to take advantage of its content.
RBZ, LLP, a Los Angeles-based public accounting firm, has been ranked among the top twenty "Best Places to Work" in Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Business Journal for the fifth year in a row.
Out of hundreds of participating firms from every industry throughout the Greater Los Angeles Area, only thirty-six midsized companies made the Best Places to Work list this year. RBZ holds the number thirteen spot on the list for 2012, tops amongst all accounting firms within this category.

Best Companies Group compiled the results of the list for the Los Angeles Business Journal. The survey consisted of a two-part assessment process: an Employer Questionnaire captured information about company policies and practices. The second part was based on an Employee Satisfaction Survey, which provided independent employee feedback and was worth 75 percenbtof the entire survey process.
The results from the survey were analyzed and categorized according to eight core focus areas: leadership and planning, corporate culture and communications, role satisfaction, work environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits, and overall satisfaction.
Schneider Downs, a public accounting and business advisory firm, announced that Michael A. Stetson has joined the firm as a Senior Audit Manager.
Stetson has more than fourteen years of experience in public accounting and has provided assurance and advisory services to a wide variety of private and public companies in a range of industries including manufacturing and construction, and has also served nonprofit and higher education clients. Stetson earned his BS in accounting from Clarion University of Pennsylvania.
