Friedman LLP Quality Review Partner Michele B. Amato has been confirmed as the vice chair of the SEC Practice Committee by the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA).
The nomination is a formal recognition of Amato's contributions, leadership qualities, and past efforts on behalf of the profession, according to the NYSSCPA. She brings excellent credentials to the appointment, with more than 25 years of experience at both national and regional firms, according to the society. Amato has extensive experience leading clients through initial public offerings, reverse mergers, private placements, and spin-offs. She is a frequent lecturer on accounting and auditing topics.
"I am honored to be selected as vice chair of a committee that I have been so actively involved with for years," said Amato. "I have met so many of my peers through the SEC Practice Committee."
The NYSSCPA is one of the largest state accounting organizations in the nation with 30,000 current members. It was incorporated in 1897 to promote accounting advocacy, encourage professional competence, instill public trust, increase recognition and visibility, and aid in recruitment and retention.
