The 16th annual Golf Invitational, held by J.H. Cohn LLP, one of the largest independent accounting and consulting firms in the Northeast, raised a record $200,000 for The Special Operations Warrior Foundation and Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation, two of the firm's Cohn for Kids affiliated charities.
The outing, held at the Hudson National Golf Club in Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y. on Tuesday, donated 100 percent of its proceeds to charities dedicated to improving the lives of children in need. To date, more than $1 million has been raised by the J.H. Cohn Foundation's efforts. The Golf Invitational's sponsors included Presenting Sponsor North Fork Bank, Eagle Sponsors Merrill Lynch and Diversified, and Birdie Sponsor Gale Real Estate Services Company. Other sponsors included JP Morgan Chase, Bear Stearns, and US Mortgage.
"This annual golf outing epitomizes one of J.H. Cohn's longstanding core values: giving back," said J.H. Cohn Chief Executive Officer Thomas J. Marino. "We are incredibly proud of this event and the significant impact it has on so many children."
The event included silent and live auctions. In advance of the event, J.H. Cohn provided an opportunity for those not attending the outing to bid on items online. Among the items sold were golf packages at six prestigious Metropolitan Area golf courses (including Hudson National, Mountain Ridge, Baltusrol, Merion and Plainfield golf clubs), a "Best of Italy" luxury tour package, and a 2008 New York Yankees spring training package.
