Houston based Melton & Melton LLP has announced it is joining MSI Legal & Accounting Network Worldwide (MSI). The accounting firm was looking for an alternative solution to a merger in order to satisfy increasing client demand for services in other U.S. States and internationally. Joining MSI meets this requirement, and just as importantly, enables the firm to retain its much-valued independence and identity.
With over 70 employees, the 14-partner firm is one of Houston's largest, locally-owned accounting firms, and provides audit, tax, and corporate governance compliance services for both publicly and privately held companies.
The decision to join the MSI Legal and Accounting Network Worldwide gives the firm access to a global network of over 250 carefully selected, independent accounting and legal firms in 100 countries throughout the Americas, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa.
The firm needed to find an alternative solution to a merger in order to satisfy increasing client demand for services in other U.S. States and internationally. Joining MSI meets this requirement, and just as importantly, enables the firm to retain its much-valued independence and identity.
Clint Bennett, the firm's international contact partner, says: "We joined MSI because our clients and prospects have a growing need for international tax and audit work to be performed as part of their overall service. We expect to refer work to MSI members in several countries over the next few months."
James Mendelssohn, MSI's Chief Executive, adds: "This latest appointment demonstrates the growing importance of international associations such as MSI as accounting firms look for long-term solutions to retaining their competitive edge. Clients are demanding an ever-wider range of professional advisory services from their advisors, and being able to source accounting, tax and legal expertise anywhere in the world quickly and reliably is fast becoming essential. Firms are also turning to associations as part of their strategy to remain independent in a market characterized by a growing spate of mergers and acquisitions."
"Around the world firms are facing similar challenges. We have seen a huge increase in the number of firms from all over the world applying for membership in recent months."
MSI Legal & Accounting Network Worldwide (MSI) was formed in 1990 in response to the growing need for cross-border cooperation between professional service firms. Membership is broken down by region as follows:13 percent Latin America
14 percent Africa and Middle East
17 percent Asia-Pacific
31 percent Europe
25 percent North America
MSI is currently looking to appoint independent accounting firms in those U.S. States where it does not currently have member firms. Opportunities are available in, but not limited to, the following States: Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Utah, Tennessee (Memphis), Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
