The World of Accounting showcase, hosted by the Rochester chapter of the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA) on April 29, provided nearly 200 New York high school students with an opportunity to explore career options in accounting.
The full day program included panel discussions, tours of two accounting firms, speakers, Q&A sessions, and networking opportunities, according to a report in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.
Students heard testimonials and learned about real-life experiences from practicing accountants in public, government, and corporate accounting fields. Current college accounting students also spoke about their experiences.
This was the 11th World of Accounting event that NYSSCPA/Rochester has presented.
Schools that did not send students have been given the option of scheduling in-school presentations by members of the NYSSCPA High School Task Force.
