Chalk another one up for open source. UBmatrix has published the source code for its publicly released Java version of their Processing Engine as a new Open Source project on SourceForge.net.
The http://sourceforge.net/projects/ubmatrix-xbrl/ project on SourceForge.net offers more than just the UBmatrix Processing Engine source code. It also includes a compiled run-time version, and a complete set of documentation, including sample code and an application program interface (API) guide. Developers will have all the resources they need to develop sample applications, embed XBRL capabilities in existing applications, produce and validate XBRL instance documents, read and render XBRL into the format of their choice and more.
UBmatrix also offers a range of other valuable resources for developers, such as:
- By completing the free online registration, UBmatrix xBReeze offers developers a freely downloadable copy of UBmatrix XBRL Taxonomy Designer for modeling metadata, business rules, and validation scripts.
- Developers registering with UBmatrix xBReeze can also join Open Soure taxonomy projects to get samples of useful XBRL taxonomies and collaborate with other XBRL experts.
- UBmatrix xBReeze also offers tutorials for learning how to use xBReeze for project management, taxonomy version tracking and more. Visit the xBReeze-Public domain to check out the xBReeze Training repository.
- The UBmatrix book http://www.lulu.com/content/231882 “Financial Reporting Using XBRL” is on of the industry’s most complete guides to using XBRL, including dozens of useful examples for business people and developers.
“We’ve seen a tremendous amount of interest from our Open Source processing engine announcement last December,” remarked Joe Pistritto, Vice President of Development at UBmatrix. “There’s so much buzz right now around XBRL solutions. We are excited to make this core XBRL application available as Open Source.”
