While accounting problems continue to plague the Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau, the city auditor has decided to work with the Bureau's Audit Oversight committee to rectify the problem.
Earlier this summer during an internal audit, the Bureau discovered inaccurate records used by the Bureau to determine the size of financial incentives for the bureau's sales staff. At that time, CEO Linda Howell-DiMario said incentives for the sales staff are capped at 10 percent of an employee's annual salary, averaging $4,000.
Fast forward to this week, when it was discovered that Howell-DiMario ordered an audit from Ernst & Young, of which the Bureau's Audit Committee says it was unaware was going on. The audit focuses on potentially inappropriate incentives paid to staff members.
Apparently, the audit caught the Bureau's board by surprise by reading about it in the paper.
