The 2003 National Management of an Accounting Practice (MAP) Survey is now available online. The MAP survey provides benchmark information for small and mid-size accounting practices. Significant features of this year's survey include the ability to customize results by sorting data by location, firm size, compensation, and profitability.
The survey will be available throughout the rest of June, July, and through August 22. It takes about an hour to complete the survey, however the survey does not need to be completed in one sitting. Results will be available in October.
Participants will be asked to provide information about their firm, such as firm size, length of time in practice, financial information, source of fees, salary information, billing methods, benefits programs, type of services provided, and technology. Firms will also be questioned about what issues are most important to them. With the survey results, firms will be able to compare their management policies and financial results with similar firms, providing a benchmark analysis.
Read through a copy of last year's sample survey results to see the exact type of information you will be expected to provide when you take the survey.
Members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' Alliance for CPA Firms (PCPS) will receive survey results at no charge. Membership in PCPS is $35. Survey participants who are not PCPS members will be able to purchase survey results for a discounted price.
